Ducati Panigale V2 revealed

As well as the new Streetfighter V4, Ducati also took the wraps off the new ‘baby’ Panigale earlier today, which is now called the Panigale V2.

The new model has updated styling to bring it into line with the Panigale V4, and will be powered by a Euro 5 compliant 955cc V-twin engine producing a claimed 155bhp and 104Nm of torque. That’s 5bhp more than the outgoing 959. Bizarrely for Ducati, there is only one model of the Panigale V2, no higher-spec S version has been announced.

Ducati’s smaller-capacity sportsbikes have traditionally featured double-sided swingarms, but the new V2 will come with a single-sided unit.

That means no electronic suspension. The V2 comes with conventional Show Big Piston Forks at the front and a fully-adjustable Sachs shock at the rear. There’s also a Sachs steering damper. Brakes are courtesy of Brembo, with beefy monobloc calipers up front.

The Panigale V2 still features electronic rider aids. ABS Cornering EVO, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, Ducati Quick Shift up/down (DQS) EVO 2 andEngine Brake Control (EBC) EVO all come as standard.

Thankfully there’s a new exhaust which is, well, at least better than the scaffolding pipes on the 959.
