Order books open for new Yamaha R1M

You can now reserve your range-topping, MotoGP-inspired 2020 Yamaha YZF R1-M through Yamaha’s online ordering system. But be quick, it’s first come first served.

The R1M is Yamaha’s flagship. Just think the standard R1, but with even more trick stuff, and Yamaha claim it takes inspiration directly from Valentino Rossi’s Yamaha M1.

Aesthetically the bike remains relatively unchanged, although it has received some mechanical and electronic upgrades. The forks – which can be controlled with the touch of a button – are new Öhlins ERS NPX gas pressurised numbers, while the rear shock remains the same.

In terms of electronics there’s a new two-mode brake control system, which features cornering ABS, a new three-mode engine braking management system, and optimised launch control system, as well as a new ride-by-wire throttle system. Oh, and it’s only available in Silver Blu Carbon.

The price in the UK for this tech-laden superbike is £21,999 ($27,243), almost £3000 cheaper than the Panigale V4S. But you don’t just get a fancy motorcycle throwing all those pennies Mr Yamaha’s way.

Those lucky enough to get their hands on an R1M will also pocket themselves a place on the Yamaha Racing Experience at Mugello and Le Mans in 2020. You’ll get the chance to ride your R1M around two of the best tracks in Europe, and you’ll also learn how to use the R1M’s sophisticated electronics to their full potential.

If this all sounds good to you, then you can reserve your R1M here.
