Spied: New Royal Enfield Thunderbirds on way?

New 350 and 500X Thunderbirds spied.

Spy shots have been circulating the web recently of a couple of new Royal Enfield motorcycles. Whilst the video below doesn’t really show much detail, the bike in the video is the supposed update for the Royal Enfield Thunderbird.

The new 2018 versions will be the 350X and the 500X and will share the same running gear of their 2017 variants. This means either a 350cc or a 500cc air-cooled single cylinder “thumper” and that these new machines will predictably receive a slight facelift and a few styling tweaks to differentiate the new and old versions.

Out goes the chrome finished touches and dark colour schemes, in comes matte black detailing on the engine and exhaust and bright glossy colours for the fuel tank.

Could these new “X” models be aimed at a younger target market that is after a cruiser style motorcycle?

The new Thunderbirds are likely to be released initially in India later this month but there is no indication of these new machines coming to Europe or the US sadly.
