Ooh, it’s another teaser video.
Triumph really is riding the crest of a wave recently and is updating all of their bikes left, right and centre. The Tiger, Bobber, Street Triple, Bonneville and Speedmaster variants have all received thorough updates over the past couple of years, now its time for the Speed Triple. However there is still no news about an updated Daytona model, but maybe that will come after their new 675cc triple motor is fully fledged in the Moto 2 series in 2019.
Enough of all that though, because a teaser video has been released today by Triumph featuring TT rider Gary Johnson and Superbike champ Carl Fogarty. Suggesting a head to head between the pair, glimpses of the new Speed Triple appear and reveal minor details such as the beautiful colour TFT LCD screen and the five-spoke wheels.
Two bikes feature in the video, so could this mean there could be two versions? Maybe an ‘R” and a ‘RS’ model? Ditching the ‘S’ version to make this a hardcore focused machine?
The messages in the video claim it to be “the greatest ever” and “the most powerful”, so it’s safe to guess that they are actually talking about the motorcycle here. If so that indicates the power should increase from the 140 bhp-outgoing model and also be equipped with upgrades to other components such as the suspension.
Aesthetically, the Speed Triple looks to be keeping a style very close to that of the previous model; so expect a Street fighter with the twin headlamps and the under-seat exhaust system.
