Oops! Someone dropped the new Ducati Panigale V4 on stage at the Milan show

Somebody has just created the world’s first, second-hand Ducati Panigale V4 deal.

Spotted on Twitter this morning from a loyal follower – Ross Thomson – this does not look like the way the Ducati Panigale V4 is supposed to look. In a tweet which jokingly congratulates the people on stage for “starting the world’s first Panigale V4 speciale Deal!” the new €45,000 superbike can clearly be seen, fallen onto the floor with what appears to be a stage hand giving quite a stern telling off to the lady stood to the right of the crestfallen machine.

We’ve struggled to find out many more details about what exactly happened, but Dutch website Oliepeil have another photograph of the same situation and things really don’t look too good for the flagship Ducati, as it lays on top of the paddock stand with its left handlebar digging into the floor.

The woman stood next to the bike looks very much like the one that Ducati have hired to help showcase the Panigale V4 during the show, so we can only imagine what the conversations between her management team and those from Bologna are right now.

We left EICMA just hours before, but rumours of Motofire’s rush to the airport and possible involvement in the bike drop are greatly exaggerated.

Just begs to question why bother with the dolly birds when the bikes are quite often nicer to look at anyway! Or secure the bikes properly before getting pretty young things to sit on them and pose. Without knowing the full story it’s hard to establish blame but I wouldn’t be so quick to come down hard on the poor lass who no doubt was only doing what she was told.

Actually it raises the question. To beg the question means to question the premise upon which a statement rests.
And someone mentioned the pic of the bike as it “lays” on the floor. No, as it LIES on the floor.
And yes, surely putting a woman on the stand with the bike is insulting both to her and to those attending the show.

  55. Avatar

    November 15, 2017 at 14:15

It lies on the floor but ‘lays’ on top of the paddock stand ;p

  56. Avatar

    November 18, 2017 at 23:24

If that guy was blaming the woman, then he’s an idiot. And if he’s telling her she should have saved it from falling, then he’s a dangerous idiot. The models are told how to sit on the display bikes, usually side-saddle. If the bike-stand was not stable enough to hold the bike and model, then blame whoever decided to use it in the first place. At the very least, they should have rehearsed how it would all work with her sitting on it.

If her weight caused it to fall, then a slight bump or even a stiff breeze would blow that bike over when using that stand. Bikes are too damned heavy these days, anyway. ;) On the other hand, and considering how woefully under-trained most new Ducati owners are, that’s probably the exact position in which most Panigale V4s will spend most of their time.

What is it with everyone using “lay” when they should be putting “lie”???? “Lay” is past tense …

  58. Avatar

    November 24, 2017 at 22:06

No, it’s lying on the paddock stand …

Maybe it’s laying an egg …
