The V85 is Moto Guzzi’s attempt to re-enter the adventure motorcycle market – although it’s still at a concept stage, for now.
Guzzi previously had the Stelvio in their line up – until it failed to meet Euro 4 emission regulations – so the V85 is a completely new motorcycle which features an 850cc transverse 90° V-Twin engine and is rumoured to produce around 80hp. Moto Guzzi has called this new machine a “Classic Enduro”.
The V85 has been developed for off-road riding and you can see this within the detailing: an enduro style front mudguard, wire-spoked wheels, long travel Ohlins suspension front and rear and a steel trellis frame.
It’s full of fascinating design details too – just look at that front light, echoing the wings of the famous Guzzi badge.
Moto Guzzi says,
“It is the motorcycle that was needed by an increasingly standardized market dedicated to travelling in its purest form, recalling the epic rally raids of the 1980s, a point of reference from which it inherits style, charm and thus emotion, but which has been designed to take on both everyday routes and long-distance routes, using the most up-to-date requirements.
The Concept V85 is dedicated to those who, while never ceasing to dream of Dakar, yearn for a bike that revives the spirit of adventure on their daily journeys. The Concept Moto Guzzi prefigures a modern motorcycle, fully equipped and with a strong character, but also a pure and essential motorcycle with its shapes that originate directly from Moto Guzzi’s own history.”
Moto Guzzi hasn’t mentioned about any production details for the V85 or if the 850cc engine will feature on any other of their current line up.
