Lead from start to finish for veteran TT racer.
The lightweight class is always a highlight for the Isle of Man TT fans. With the ‘supertwins’ providing plenty of drama and usual close-racing action there is a lot to enjoy.
This year’s race offered plenty of headlines too.
Michael Rutter took the lead from the beginning of the rae and was never beaten, mastering a win that saw him also set a new lap record of 118.645 mph. It was his first TT win since 2013.
For Italian bike builder Paton it was even more historic. Having worked hard on reviving the brand in recent years with its historic looking but thoroughly modern Kawasaki-based ER-6 S1, a win in the TT Lightweight class is the perfect marketing accolade for generating interest.
Elsewhere in the race, Martin Jessopp continued his excellent form with a fine second place, followed closely by another man currently proving his worth, Peter Hickman.
