British marque planning an all-new 1200cc sportsbike alongside a 650cc twin.
Norton have announced on their Facebook page today that they’re in the midst of developing a V4, 1200cc superbike that’s planned to be unveiled at Motorcycle Live in Birmingham, UK this November.
Details are hard to come by and the Norton website shows only a photograph with a web form asking for potential customers to register their interest, but Motofire believe that the new bike will be based heavily upon the TT racer that they’ve been developing over the past few seasons.
The engine however – is being developed independently – and will be a ‘completely new Norton design V4 1200 cc’.
Sources close to the Norton camp based out of Donington tell us that this new machine will come at a price; the initial run of 200 limited edition models is expected to reach a price of £40,000, although a base model will be closer to £28,000.
The chassis will be made from aluminium, come with Ohlins suspension, carbon wheels and will be absolutely full to the brim of the latest electronics. That includes an ambitious plan by Norton to replace mirrors with a rear-view camera.
Details on the proposed 650cc build are even harder to come across, but sources close to the factory have told us that this too is expected to make some sort of appearance at the November motorcycle show also.
