Scottish woman designs full-body protective suit for sidecar-loving dog.
We say full-body, but there is still the discussion of headwear for the canine of course. Glossing over that however, this is actually pretty cool.
Aileen Perry already has a pretty successful business selling ‘onesies for dogs’ so she was the natural, first point of call for Gloucestershire-based Steve Hawley; who loves taking his Labrador – Renee – out for a ride with him but was worried about his beloved five-year-old’s safety.
“She began to try and keep up with the bike whenever I rode away, then lagging behind and watching heartbroken as I disappeared around the corner.
“I know I would never fully enjoy a motorbike ride unless Renee was with me, so I went about finding a motorcycle and sidecar outfit.”
Steve had already purchased a pair of ‘Doggles‘ for Renee to wear whilst riding in his sidecar, but he wanted something to help look after little Renee if the worst should happen.
A quick little search around the glorious, niche-enabler that is the Internet and his wish was granted. A few conversations later with Eileen and the Kevlar Doggie Onesie was born.
Steve and Renee are planning a trip from Land’s End to John O’Groats this year. Now she’ll be just that little bit safer.
