Honda UK announced the price of their new, 2016 CRF1000L today and to call it ‘competitive’ would be an understatement.
The current champion of the off-road/Adventure segment is the BMW R1200GS Adventure – the bike of choice for Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor on their worldwide jaunts – and the basic model of that retails in Great Britain for £13,050.
The price of the 2016 Africa Twin will be £10,499.
This is for the lower-spec model of course, the one with a regular transmission and ‘turn-off-able’ rear wheel ABS. There will be a more expensive and higher-spec machine available too; with the £11,299 version coming with Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) and additional off-roading electronic wizardry, such as adaptive gear shifts based on the terrain under wheel and adaptive clutch control.
The official, world-wide launch is in South Africa next week. So we’ll learn then about just how worthy of its Africa Twin name the 2016 version is.
For now, here are some official Honda videos to whet your appetite.
