F1 Boss: Valentino Rossi would have been kicked off track

Would Rossi have been black-flagged?

Bernie Ecclestone – the F1 chief – believes that Valentino Rossi would have been disqualified for his collision with Marc Marquez at the Malaysian GP, which would have resulted in his loss of any title hopes even before his back of the grid start at Valenica.

“Rossi did well not to change to F1.” – Bernie Ecclestone

Speaking with Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport, Ecclestone was certain that ‘Rossi would have been disqualified for sure, what happened was completely wrong’.

He also went on to discuss the possible implications for Formula 1 should they come face-to-face with a similar incident to that where Rossi has accused Marquez of helping out his compatriot Lorenzo to win the title.

‘This is a warning for F1’, he said, ‘just imagine if Ferrari were en route for the title and Mercedes blocked them with one of their customer teams, what would happen?’.

Thankfully MotoGP doesn’t have too much in common with F1…

Yeah not sure Bernie can be cited as the voice of reason. Successful he is. Stable – not so much.
