Sales of moustache wax and upturned jeans have skyrocketed in the Italian city of Bologna as the news that production of the reborn Ducati Scrambler has started spreads.
The first full production Scrambler rolled off the line on December 1 to a champagne reception. Independent coffee shops and brewhouses were deserted as the hipster elite of Bologna pile into the factory for their first glimpse of the production hipster roadster.
Keen to prove his hipster credentials, a member of Ducati staff, complete with moustache (and a rather weak one at that), silly glasses and side parting uploaded a video to Youtube of the bike running with a Termignoni exhaust. Unfortunately his bald-headed co-star, Keith*, didn’t get the hipster memo.
The Scrambler will be in UK dealers in January, although you’ll first need to pass a true hipster test before even being allowed a test ride. The full criteria for this test is not yet known, although our sources inside Ducati reckon you’ll need at least a moustache and a thorough knowledge of Instagram filters.
*Probably not his real name.
