The 2003 movie Faster was the first movie to go behind-the-scenes of the premier racing class. And it’s amazing.
If you’ve got an hour and a half to spare this Sunday – especially before the race at Aragon today – you could do a lot worse than leaving the vacuuming until later or sacking off the making of your Sunday roast altogether and settling down to watch this mesmerising movie.
Filmed during the 2001 and 2002 seasons, it’s the story of Valentino Rossi – then 24 – and the fight of three other riders as they try to rise up and challenge for the title; Rossi’s bitter rival Max Biaggi, Garry McCoy and a young John Hopkins.
Featuring a stoic commentary from Ewan McGregor and the supporting voices of legends such as Mick Doohan, Kevin Schwantz, Wayne Rainey, Kenny Roberts and the fan-favourite Barry Sheene, this documentary by Mark Neale is the perfect Sunday movie.
Enjoy – you can always do the DIY stuff next week.
