McGuinness: King of the electric mountain

He’s had a tougher TT than most this year, but John McGuinness still came away with one, ‘King of the Mountain’ trophy.

He won his 21st TT race on Wednesday morning when he took the SES TT Zero race in stealthy, record-breaking style – which was breathtakingly recorded in HD video by the IOM TT organisers.

Riding the Mugen Shinden (which in itself is basically a Honda machine), McGuinness took the lead from the start, and set  a stunning new lap record of 117.366mph; which was 23.3s clear of team-mate Bruce Anstey.

Rob Barber, on the Ohio State University Buckeye machine, took third – no small feat for a bunch of kids up against the might of the Tokyo-based manufacturer.
