The Desmosedici Stradale is arriving on September 7th.
There is probably no better place to unveil a brand new, Italian-built engine than at this coming week’s MotoGP during the San Marino GP in Rimini. So that’s what Ducati are doing?
We’ve already been teased with spy video of the new V4 in action, but the reveal in Thursday at 12:15pm CET will be the first time anyone outside of Ducati insiders will have seen (and hopefully heard) the new engine in the flesh.
Now, before anyone gets too excited, we’re not expecting to see a new bike on Thursday. Thursday’s event is probably going to be just an engine reveal with a lot of mechanical and engineering expertise being showcased.
The Desmosedici Stradale (or ‘Road’, for anyone with lack of access to Google Translate or a basic Italian phrasebook) is going to underpin a lot of Ducati’s new motorcycles over the coming years, so whilst it would be amazing to see a brand new, road-going sportsbike hit the headlines on Thursday, the fact that this is at a MotoGP and that EICMA is mere months away will probably mean that we’ll see – and hear – the sound of Ducati’s new era in mechanical form only.
Although, you know… If we all wish hard enough…
Here is the full tease for this Thursday’s reveal:

So if you’re not a member of the MotoGP press media, or on Ducati’s guest list (spoiler: we’re neither of those things), then the next best thing you can do is come back to Motofire.com on the day and see just what the fuss of Ducati moving into the V4 era is all about.
