Pre-orders for the second version of the popular electric scooter surpass 13,000 in native Taiwan.
Last year, Gogoro sold just over 12,000 of their original scooter in their home country of Taiwan, and if pre-orders for the new Gogoro 2 scooter are anything to go by, the company will have already broken their own sales record within days of shipping the first unit out of the factory.
Horace Luke, CEO of Gogoro announced this week that since they opened their order book on May 25th, over 13,000 units have been purchased of the new, second version.
The first of these new scooters have begun to be delivered and over 200 are now in use on Taiwanese streets.
Gogoro operate a unique battery-charging station model that allows for rapid replacement of the bike batteries rather than the usual plug-in charger model seen on most other electric motorcycles and scooters.
There are currently over 400 stations available throughout Taiwan and bike-sharing schemes are also beginning in Europe.
