Isle of Man TT racer and probably the bravest man in motorcycling suffered a horrendous crash last week during the Senior race of the 2017 TT.
Having already added to his tally of TT trophies earlier in the week, Ian Hutchinson was looking to add another, Senior Trophy to his collection last week for the final race of the 2017 TT.
Sadly, it wasn’t to be and a crash at the 27th Milestone – as he was fighting for first place with Peter Hickman – saw him airlifted to hospital with a broken leg.
It was a horrendous and anguished wait to see if Hutchinson was up and alert after crashing on the mountain, and it’s a weird state of affairs to feel relief that Hutchinson might just be back onto a rehabilitation schedule similar to that which saw his remarkable recovery over the past few years, rather than what many had feared would be a life-threatening crash.
The cause of the accident hasn’t been confirmed but earlier this morning a tweet from Hutchinson seemed to place some of the blame onto a punctured tyre.

It also appeared to confirm that it the damage is indeed to the same leg that was previously repaired after his horrendous accident in 2010.
