No doubt many of you caught “Racing Legends” last night, which documented a meeting between celebrity baker Paul Hollywood and one of his heroes, the incomparable John Surtees
Surtees, of course, is the only man in history to have won titles in both two and four-wheeled premier motorsport disciplines: he was Formula 1 World Champion in 1964, and a world champion on 500cc motorcycles four times in 1956, 1958, 1959 and 1960.
This amazing feat is one that Lewis Hamilton also fancies tackling but let’s be honest – the chances of it happening, in this day and age, are about as likely as…well…a very unlikely thing indeed.
So there’s no doubt that Surtees achievements are quite staggering, and mark him out as a true legend (and from last night’s programme, an absolute gentlemen to boot.) These are sentiments clearly shared by “Great British Bake Off ” judge Paul Hollywood who, after the show, had this to say:
We think he’s right. It’s about time Surtees had his current OBE upgraded to a shiny new knighthood. If you agree – and surely you must! – then do your bit to help make it happen: click here and get nominating!
